Nikon D300, Slower than Canon’s 40D

I was checking out the DPReview preview on the Nikon D300 (the implementation of live view is sweet) and I noticed something I’m surprised more sites and camera fanatics haven’t picked up on much; at least I haven’t noticed them pick up on it yet.

The continuous shooting mode for the D300 is listed as 6 […]

It’s a SLR, Not a DSLR

I was over at DPReview drooling over the new D3 and I started to wonder; why do we keep calling digital SLR cameras DSLRs?

The point in adding the “D” to “SLR” was to reduce confusion when discussing cameras. That, however, was during a time when digital SLRs were fairly young and many photographers still shot film…

On Canon’s Highlight Priority

A quick look at Canon’s new Highlight Priority shooting mode. …and some other rambling.

Sony Alpha, “I’m not quite dead yet.”

I just came across a gallery of images is Sony’s upcoming Alpha series cameras at Engadget.

Also worth checking out is the Lens Gallery section. Despite its initial appearance it covers some basics of the specific lens […]

Canon 20D replacement?

There have been some rumors that Canon will be replacing the 20D soon. Sure they will. In a year and a half.

For the most part Canon’s mid-range (prosumer) D-SLRs have had life-span of two years. The 20D is selling like gang-busters and isn’t even a full year old. So why the heck would they […]

Canon Firmware Updates

Canon has just released new firmware updates for the 1Ds Mk II and the 1D Mk II that resolve the lock-up issue that was announced not long ago.

No word yet when Lexar will begin servicing their 80x cards.

The 350D also has a firmware fix available taking care of an exposure issue, WB issueand auto-off issue.

Announcement of Canon Camera Issues

Canon is acknowledging the 1Ds Mk II and 1D Mk II cameras have an issue with possibly loosing images that are in the buffer and locking up:

Problem: Pressing the [DISPLAY] button immediately after shooting with the camera set to “RAW+JPEG (high image quality)” causes the LCD monitor to become entirely white and the camera to lock […]
