I was over at DPReview drooling over the new D3 and I started to wonder; why do we keep calling digital SLR cameras DSLRs?
The point in adding the “D” to “SLR” was to reduce confusion when discussing cameras. That, however, was during a time when digital SLRs were fairly young and many photographers still shot film…

I just came across a gallery of images is Sony’s upcoming Alpha series cameras at Engadget.

Canon has updated their Camera Museum website with the Virtual Lens Plant. This section shows how Canon’s lenses are manufactured (specifically the 500mm IS f/4) by showing a video of each step in the process.

Canon has just released new firmware updates for the 1Ds Mk II and the 1D Mk II that resolve the lock-up issue that was announced not long ago.
No word yet when Lexar will begin servicing their 80x cards.
The 350D also has a firmware fix available taking care of an exposure issue, WB issueand auto-off issue.
