Slew of Adobe Software Updates

Adobe has released several updates for Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge. These updates are primarily bug fix updates though there are some new features in the Lightroom update.

Lightroom has been updated to work properly on OS X 10.5 Leopard, includes some UI changes and the start of the long waited SDKs for third-party additions. The first […]

Raw Without The FUD

Michael Tapes of Raw Workflow has fairly well done video tutorial series explaining the mysteries of raw capture titled Raw Without The FUD. This series has been circulating the net with high praise and from what I can see, it looks well deserved.

There looks to be a downside though. From what I can gleam on […]

Keyword Worklists

Eric Scouten from Adobe has an excellent article on creating work-lists using keywords. Prior to this I was using collections as a means of organizing images I needed to keyword and caption, but I found myself forgetting to update them as new images came in.

Eric’s solution is much more convenient approach that utilizes a search […]

Moving the Lightroom Tips

For a while now, I’ve been thinking of a ways to better organize my Lightroom Tips article. Early on, I recognized that as tips were added to the page, it would become difficult to find subject matter without some sort of organizational structure. The continuous shooting mode for the D300 is listed as 6 […]

It’s a SLR, Not a DSLR

The point in adding the “D” to “SLR” was to reduce confusion when discussing cameras. That, however, was during a time when digital SLRs were fairly young and many photographers still shot film…

Quick B&W in Lightroom

A super fast means of converting images to BW from almost anywhere in Lightroom.

Beta HD Photo plug-ins for Photoshop

For those interested in fooling around with Microsoft’s HD Photo format, here you go.

Oh, and it should be noted, once HD Photo clears standardization, it will be renamed to the terrible JPEG XR moniker. How in the world does that name make a lick of sense? I’m sure the JPEG group is very proud of […]

Optimal Copyright Term is 14 Years

“It’s easy enough to find out how long copyrights last, but much harder to decide how long they should last—but that didn’t stop Cambridge University PhD candidate Rufus Pollock from using economics formulas to answer the question. In a newly-released paper, Pollock pegs the “optimal level for copyright” at only 14 years.”
